• Active learning through Play whether planned by adults or initiated by children, is the central element of the OSLP&K Preschool Curriculum.

  • Children learn through direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas.

  • Caring adults who understand child development and how to scaffold the important areas of learning in the preschool years offer guidance and support.[metaslider id=774]

3 year old students will have the opportunity to interact with peers and teachers in a warm and caring environment. Students are given a sense of control over the events of the day by engaging in a consistent daily routine that enables the children to anticipate what happens next. Elements of the preschool daily routine include Discovery Time, Morning Meeting, Bible Time, Snack, Story Time, Fine and Gross Motor activities, Art and Music.

Our Savior Lutheran Preschool’s curriculum is thematically based. Wherever possible, we look to Illinois Early Learning Standards to guide our choices. The children are taught in a play-based environment using hands-on materials, manipulative toys, games, songs and finger-plays.
